Corte alla Flora Nobile Di Montepulciano Riserva DOCG Montepulciano, Tuscany Italy 2015
2oz pour: $7 | 5oz pour $17 | Bottle: $63
This week we picked a lovely wine from Tuscany in honor of our good friend Theresa Van Ornum. Theresa makes an annual trip to Tuscany to work on her art. This year we are partnering with JD Meyers to showcase Theresa’s works, including some from her recent trip to Tuscany. On Saturday, June 15th, we will be offering complimentary wine, charcuterie and sweets from 1-4 at JD Meyers, which you can have while enjoying the art on display. Stop in – no reservations required.
Montepulciano is a medieval hilltop town in Tuscany, Italy. Surrounded by vineyards, it’s known for its vino nobile red wine. The main varietal in the wines of Montepulciano is a clone of Sangiovese. Due to the unique soils and climate (terroir), the wines are very different from the Sangiovese of the Chianti region. With Montepulciano, you will notice mineral and herbaceous notes in addition to the fruit and floral expressions.
This particular wine has the DOCG classification, which is the mark of the highest quality wine in the Italian hierarchy. It was aged for 24 months in small oak barrels and another 12 months in the bottle before being released. As a 2015 bottling, this wine is at its peak with the additional bottle aging. It would be delightful with our filet or burger.
Enjoy!
